Lakeshore Bliss Resort , situated on the beautiful and scenic Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees, sits in a 60,000-acre sportsman’s paradise where angling enthusiasts can fish for bass, crappie, and catfish, and water sports enthusiasts can enjoy swimming, water skiing, sailing, and cruising.
This area of Oklahoma was never dusty, as so many people presume. It has always been a lush land filled with rivers, forests so thick a horse and rider could barely pass through, and tall grass prairie so beautiful it makes some folks weep when they come to take a look.
Here in Oklahoma’s “Green Country” visitors can explore a vestige of American History on Route 66 through Grand Lake and the northeastern portion of the state. There are 1,300 miles of shoreline to see and lots more to enjoy.
Visitors to Lakeshore Bliss Resort can attend several music shows in the surrounding area, journey to Pensacola Dam to see the world’s longest multiple arch dam, take a ride on the Cherokee Queen, or spend an evening outdoors witnessing a live performance of “The Elijah Factor” at the Picture in Scripture Amphitheater.
Stroll through yesteryear in nearby Har-Ber Village, one of America’s finest museums. This reconstructed 19th-century village encompasses more than 100 buildings housing such displays as glassware, dolls, furniture, and farm machinery. Other exhibits include arctic animals and Native American pottery and artifacts. Allow about three hours to visit this free museum.
The nearby Will Rogers Memorial invites visitors to its ranch house-style museum on the site where Will Rogers planned to build a home. In the foyer is a well-known bronze sculpture of Rogers, and personal items are exhibited in eight galleries.
Dioramas highlight Rogers’ life and varied stints as a performer, and star of some 70 films. Allow at least an hour to visit. Donations are accepted.
Amenities: Clubhouse, swimming pool, video games, beach area, fishing (license required), indoor heated fishing dock, paddle boats, boating, water skiing, boat ramps and docks, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, nature trails, ball fields, on-site security, and miniature golf. Dump station.
